“Travelling....it leaves you speechless, then turns you into a storyteller” - IBN Battuta
Hello Fellow Explorer,
I did need to introduce myself at some point.……what with a blog and all that :) Writing in anonymity was an option, but I for one don’t much care to be “anonymous”.
We hear about people being “right-brained” or “left brained”. Growing up that confused me. I, for one always had a strong creative side to me, be it my love for music or writing or art or just being quite aesthetic. However, I also excelled academically, was blessed with a logical mind and went on to study Accountancy and Business. Infact, I built my career in Finance and then Strategy Consulting for the last 2 decades. However, I always found solace in art of all forms.
In my journey of life, I’ve also discovered my passion for travelling. Since I was a young kid, travelling has been an intrinsic part of my life. Like many of us, I would look forward to summer holidays and trips with my family. The thrill of seeing a new place, getting “travel pocket money”, trying new cuisines, was probably unknowingly inculcated by my folks.
As I grew older, this part of me only grew and evolved in different directions. From only travelling with family, I ventured to do girls trips, trips with colleagues & friends, attempting solo trips as a young girl, and to now even travelling with my pet dog.
Who am I?
I'm Niharika, an avid traveller, but more importantly a seeker.
A seeker of serene places, quiet corners, vibrant colours, soulful food, beautiful music, and heartfelt conversations. The way I travel may have changed over the years….but the one thing that remains constant is my curiosity, and that usually allows me to find a story everywhere I go.
As the famous Rumi said “What you seek is seeking you”....and so I believe that when you go out in the world with an open heart and mind, you attract people and places that you deeply connect with. I’ve travelled in India and outside of it, and it’s interesting to observe that it is very easy to find similar people.
Why this Blog?
In the world of short form videos and status posts, I still enjoy the long form :) In a world filled with technology, for me the joy of holding a paperback in my hand still surpasses that of a kindle. This Travel blog is an expression of what I experience when I travel, an attempt to share my perspective, a way to recommend places that I enjoyed staying at or dining at.In the hope that similar people might stumble upon this Blog and find it helpful or just plain entertaining!
I quit Google in April 2023, I packed up my house in Gurgaon, and drove solo across parts of India, with my pet dog, Leo. It’s been an experience of a lifetime and I felt the desire to share these (and more) stories….
Happy reading!
~ Niharika
